    Who was Francis Augustus Silva?

    Francis Augustus Silva, born 4 October 1835 in New York, United States, died 31 March 1886 in New York, United States, was an American Luminist painter of the Hudson River School. His specialty was marine scenes, particularly of the Atlantic coast, a genre in which he masterfully captured the subtle gradations of light in the coastal atmosphere.
