Here you will find a careful selection of posters with unique art inspired by the Spanish artist Pablo Picasso, active in Spain and France during the 20th century. Pablo Picasso is among other things known for having created the art direction Cubism and most of the world's most expensive paintings ever sold at auction are signed Pablo Picasso.
Pablo Picasso is known worldwide as a master of painting and modernism's most versatile foreground figure. During his lifetime, he was incredibly productive and created lots of art. Our posters with motifs inspired by Picasso are characterized by decorative abstract shapes based on his artwork. Over the years, Picasso has alternated between many different painting techniques and, among other things, he is counted together with Georges Braque as the creator of the so-called cubism, which was an abstract art style with geometric shapes. As an artist, Picasso was not only a painter but also a sculptor, illustrator, graphic artist, theater decorator, ceramicist and poet and is considered by many to be one of the greatest of all time.
The story behind the artist
Pablo Picasso was born in Malaga, Spain on October 25, 1881. He was the son of José Ruiz y Blasco, a painter and art professor, and María Picasso y López. From his father, Picasso learned the basics of visual art such as figure drawing and oil painting. He showed already in his early youth proof of a precocious artistic skill. His first famous oil painting Picador was painted in 1889. At the age of ten, Pablo began signing his paintings with his mother's maiden name Picasso. During his years as active, Picasso became known for creating cubism and assemblage. Among his most famous works of art are the painting Les Demoiselles d’Avignon from 1907 and Guernica from 1937, which is a portrait of the German bombings of Guernica during the Spanish Civil War. On his 90th birthday, Picasso was honored when eight of his works were exhibited at the Louvre in Paris at the site previously occupied by Leonardo da Vinci's Mona Lisa. He died on April 8, 1973. He turned 92 years old.
