    Who was P. C. Skovgaard?

    P. C. Skovgaard, born 4 April 1817 in Denmark, died 13 April 1875 in Copenhagen, Denmark, was a Danish national romantic landscape painter. He mastered both small formats with realistic impasto depictions of nature and larger, monumental, and detailed compositions. The scale of his paintings constitutes a breakthrough in Danish art.

    Poster with the painting "Field of Oats Near Vejby" by the Danish artist Peter Christian Thamsen Skovgaard from the year 1843.
