    Who was William Turner?

    William Turner, born 23 April 1775 in London, United Kingdom, died 19 December 1851 in London, United Kingdom was known for his expressive colors, imaginative landscapes, and turbulent, often violent marine paintings. He left behind more than 550 oil paintings, 2,000 watercolors, and 30,000 works on paper and is today considered to have elevated landscape painting to an eminence rivaling history painting.
